Mont-Tremblant Resort??

Im going to Mont-tremblant Resort in Quebec soon. I wanted to know if anyone knew of any designer malls or famous/good mall near by (1 hour max). If you know good malls in montreal please include that aswell. Please Answer A.S.A.P i need to make plans.

Thanks So Much

St. Sauveur has designer factory outlet shopping. It’s on the way to Mont Tremblant from Montreal and it has good skiing too.

In Montreal, Chabanel St. is unique (Saturday mornings only). From Frommers online… Those who delight in the hunt for bargains — and possess the tenacity to plunge into barely managed chaos to find them — won’t want to miss rue Chabanel. A long trek north from downtown (nearest Métro station: Crémazie), rue Chabanel is a street that runs west of boulevard St-Laurent and is lined with factory buildings and warehouses. On Saturday mornings from 8:30am to 1pm — very roughly — the clothing manufacturers and importers use ground- and mezzanine-level showrooms and suites to display and sell all manner of men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing at a discount. For those few hours a week (usually not in Jan or July), coats, leather goods, sportswear, suits, and sweaters are all on offer at deeply discounted prices, and diligence and a willingness to bargain are rewarded. Prowl the 8 blocks with buildings numbered 99 to 555; the higher the number, the better the quality, or at least so goes the commonly held conviction.

Any information or ideas you give me will be fine

You’re incorrect. The US dollar is now worth $1.27 in Canada, so, allowing for daily flux in values, you’re getting 25% more for the US dollar.

You don’t need a lot of advance info for Tremblant. It’s a nice little village with about 5,000 rooms, so there should be lots of opportunity to party. And it’s walkable, or at least the main village is - so if you don’t have a car, or want to party, you’re okay. I think the village has about 27 restaurants, cafe, and pubs. In the evening, they have an open air fire where a lot of people gather for drinks.

In addition to skiing and snowboarding, you can snowmobile, and I think dog sled. And just a couple of miles before you get into the village is a really cool Scandie (sp?) Spa. It’s a place where you go to soak and sweat. They have steam rooms, saunas, out door hot tubs and outdoor fireplaces. I don’t think it’s very much - maybe $40-45 a visit. And if you’re brave, they may also have a polar dip in an ice-covered river.

Where should I make sure to see while visiting Montreal and the surrounding area?

I’m planning on visiting Montreal in July..and hopefully going to Mont Tremblant Park for a day…
Anywhere else I should make sure to see?
I love nature and culture.

For nature Mt Tremblant Park is lovely except for the area near the resort which is far too commercial. Alternate suggestions: Get a good map and just roam along the Ottawa River from St-Eustache to Lachute then into the Laurentians on narrow highways and dirt roads and then into the Reserve Faunique Papineau-Labelle. You’ll experience plenty of rural Québec cultures, too.

In Montreal to really get a feel for the history, peoples and cosmopolitanism try to stay in the more French side near the University of Québec at Montreal and the rue St-Denis/Av St-Laurent/Rosemount/Latin Quarter/Gay Village and the more polyglot Plateau (Montreal’s Greenwich Village) areas but then roam around, taking time for ethic neighborhoods along the Jean Talon/Beaubien corridor and Côte St-Luc and Côtes-des-Neiges. Roam also Atwater market and the nearby St-Paul district. Only then visit the more English-speaking (and American tourist infected!) areas of the near west side and McGill, and Old Montréal, other than for the museums (Montréal is a big museum town, by the way), and the other tourist attractions mentioned in any guidebook, among which are those mentioned by SteveN.

What is better for Skiing in December: Big Sky or Mont Tremblant.?

December is too early to say for sure…it depends on the snow patterns. I have skied them both, and I can say that Big Sky is the better resort for terrain, if they have the snow.

how far is Newfoundland, Canada from Mont Tremblant, Canada?

what is the physical (geographic distance) between newfoundland, Canada, and Mont Tremblant

For traveling purposes, it’s pretty far. First you have to get from one part of Newfoundland to a major airport or ferry (sometimes by another ferry or plane, if you’re in a remote part), then you have to cross part of the ocean, then you need to cross a couple of provinces, to get to Mont Tremblant, which is in the province of Quebec.

Anyway, according to Mapquest, it’s a 1665 mile trip, which, would take about 34.5 hours, non stop.

For the actual "as the crow flies" distance, look of the latitude and longitude of the two locations. Then you can use any of the virtual GPS sites on the web to find out a straight line distance. I got a rough answer from one of 1403 km.
