Mont-Tremblant, QC, Canada…things to do/see?
August 312009
I’m going to be in Mont-tremblant till the 5th or 6th of July. I would appreciate it if someone could tell me good local restraunts to visit and events that usually take place around this time. I’d like to see something that would usually attract the locals rather than tourists. It doesn’t have to be in Mont-tremblant anything 40-50 minutes away is fine. Thanks!
It’s too bad that you would not be there between July 10th and 19th, as that is when Mont Tremblant will be hosting an International Blues Festival. A few artists who will be there include Buckwheat Zydeco, Edgar Winter, Mick Taylor, Nanette Workman, and Jonas.
But there are still many things to do in the area. Hiking, biking, the Aquaclub/waterslides, golf, tennis, boating, take the gondola up the mountain.
If outdoors is not your thing, get pampered at one of the spas, swim in the indoor pool at the hotel, go to the casino, or stroll through the village at the bottom of the mountain for shopping and great food.
For restaurants, I would suggest trying one of the french bistros or restaurants, such as L’Avalanche or Les Artistes. La Savoie is good if you want to try a fondue or raclette meal. Unless it is a takeout counter or meant for the fast food crowd, you should find something you will like.
Just be aware that Tremblant Village is essentially a tourist town and so not only does it cater to that crowd, it’s prices will also reflect this. Things bought there are probably going to cost a bit more than in one of the smaller shops and restaurants outside that main area.
I would suggest going down from the hill and trying some of the places along Rue St. Jovite in the actual town of Mont-Tremblant.
And no trip to Quebec would be complete without a visit to a maple sugar shack (known as a "cabane a sucre") and enjoying the local Quebec traditional feast and entertainment. You might want to check this place out as they are open year round and not that far away:

This is by far one of the coolest festivals around! If you haven’t gone, make plans to go for next year! In this video, see Trevor play as part of the closing jam working the crowd into a frenzy and playing his VIOLAP from Cole Clark!
